Dereham Otters took part in the first round of
the East Midlands National Arena Swimming League on Saturday 10th
October. The City of
Peterborough Swimming Club played host to teams from Daventry, Trenton Dolphins,
Norwich Swans as well as Dereham Otters.
On Saturday 4th October a team from Dereham
Otters travelled to Mildenhall to compete in the ‘Larking on the Lark' Trophy Gala.The Otters team swam strongly giving them a resounding
victory, winning the competition with a total of 154 points. Mildenhall A team,
their nearest rivals, were left trailing in their wake with 121 points,
Newmarket finished on 101 points and Mildenhall B finished on 50 points.
On
Saturday 18th July, during the Hancock gala, Dereham Otters were
presented with a cheque by Kasha Halsey. Kasha is the daughter of Stewart
Halsey the owner of Trek Highway,
Dereham otters new team sponsor for the next three years. They are a local company,
based in Thetford, who have recently opened a new depot in Dereham.
On Saturday 13th June Dereham Otters hosted the Birds Sprint
Gala, with teams from Beccles, Halstead, Norwich Swans, Thetford and West Norfolk joining them. At the half way point the
Otters and Thetford were only separated by a few pointsand it remained a close
competition up until the end.
