Training and Gala Commitment

Show commitment to your squad by attending training sessions as set out by the Club.

As part of this commitment:

  • A minimum weekly training attendance of 75% is expected, unless otherwise agreed by the Head Coach.
  • Be committed to your training by turning up hydrated, focused and ready to work hard.
  • Bring a bottle of water along with you to every training session and take small sips as required during training.

Team Competitions

  • A willingness to represent the Club at team events such as Arena League and Inter Club competitions when selected.

Club Championships

  • Enter and compete in all Dereham Otters Club Championships, unless otherwise agreed with the Head Coach.

Gala Attendance

  • Attend a minimum of 5 galas per year to work towards gaining County / Regional / National qualification times, unless otherwise agreed with the Head Coach. One of these meets should be the Club's annual Iceni gala at the end of September, unless otherwise agreed with the Head Coach.

County, Regional & National Competitions

  • Compete at County / Regional / National Championships as a member of Dereham Otters, unless otherwise agreed with the Head Coach.

Land and Gym Training

  • A commitment and willingness to attend land training or gym sessions (14+) unless otherwise agreed with the Head Coach.

Readiness (Platinum and Elite)

  • Be mentally, physically, and emotionally ready for the demands of Elite and Platinum squad training and competition. This will be assessed by the coaches both in training and at meets.
  • Willingness to complete the entire set without the need for additional breaks/rest. All training sets have sufficient amounts of rest calculated within them so you should not require extra. Exceptions will be made where otherwise agreed by the coach leading the session, including new swimmers and swimmers on trial into a new squad. Please speak with the coach before the session begins.
