Last weekend, the Dereham Otters were proud to attend the Warwick Thompson Memorial Gala, delivering a series of performances that showcased the dedication and skill developed in training. Across all age groups, the swimmers demonstrated determination, resilience and outstanding team spirit, which was clear from the electric poolside atmosphere throughout the weekend.

The team’s efforts paid off with an impressive haul of 14 gold, 17 silver, and 20 bronze medals, alongside 62 personal bests achieved from a total of 94 swims. Swimmers displayed confident racing skills and improved technical execution under pressure, making it a standout event for the club.

A special mention goes to Rory Fernandez, who won 5 medals and had an exceptional meet. His focus and race management were evident in every swim, with marked improvements in starts and turns. Rory’s positive attitude on poolside, supporting teammates and representing the Otters with maturity and professionalism, drew praise from coaches and spectators alike.

William Cooper also deserves high praise for a superb weekend of racing. Demonstrating consistency and grit, particularly in the closing stages of his events, William translated his hard work in training into strong competitive performances. His growing confidence played an important role in what was a very successful gala for the Otters.
