DEREHAM OTTERS MAKING WAVES WITH 36-MEDAL HAUL AT GREAT YARMOUTH GALA

Swimmers from the Dereham Otters Swimming Club are celebrating a spectacularly successful weekend after securing a staggering 36 medals at the Great Yarmouth Swimming Club "A-May-Zing" Development Gala.
The event, which took place on Saturday 16th May 2026 at the Marina Centre in Great Yarmouth, saw the local squad deliver a masterclass in determination, sportsmanship, and technical skill. Competing in 61 individual swims, the Otters racked up an incredible 25 Personal Best (PB) times alongside their massive medal haul, which included 15 Gold, 10 Silver, and 11 Bronze medals.
Development meets play a crucial role in building racing experience and confidence, and the Dereham swimmers embraced the challenge superbly.
Among the weekend’s standout competitors was Milo Waymouth, who enjoyed an exceptional meet. Demonstrating excellent race management and serious determination, Milo's hard work in training paid off as he returned home with four individual medals. His confidence continues to grow with every competition, and it was fantastic to see that progress rewarded with multiple medals.
Teammate Annabelle Bartlett also enjoyed a remarkable weekend in the pool, securing an impressive five medals across her events. Annabelle’s consistency, focus, and positive attitude shone throughout the gala, setting a fantastic example for the younger members of the squad.
The coaching team expressed immense pride not just in the podium finishes, but in the impeccable team spirit displayed on the poolside, with swimmers loudly supporting one another from the first whistle to the final splash.
With 25 new personal records in the bag, the event marks another massive step forward for the club as they look ahead to the rest of the competitive season.
