Dereham Otters Norfolk County Championships Success!

Dereham Otters Swimming Club made waves at this year’s Norfolk County Championships, delivering an incredible performance that highlighted their continued dedication and perseverance. Under the guidance of Head Coach Sam Watts, the team surpassed last year’s achievements, proving that their hard work in training is truly paying off.

Throughout the competition, our swimmers demonstrated outstanding progress, achieving an astonishing 101 Personal Bests (PBs)! A total of 21 Otters competed across 108 races during the championships, held in January and February. Out of these, nine swimmers advanced to 27 finals, bringing home an impressive 18 county medals—10 silver and 8 bronze.

One of the most notable achievements of the championships was the qualification of five of our swimmers for the upcoming Regional Championships. Huge congratulations to Anastasja Wall, Imogen Parnell, Dolcie Underwood, William Nutt, and Sophie Bowes-Toms, who together secured an incredible 17 regional qualifying times!

Although the team didn’t clinch a gold medal this time, the sheer number of PBs, regional qualifications, and podium finishes is a testament to how much the Otters have grown over the past year. With silver and bronze medals adding to our success, Dereham Otters have firmly established themselves as a force to be reckoned with in Norfolk swimming.

Coach Sam Watts shared his pride in the team’s achievements: “This year’s results speak volumes about the commitment and spirit of our swimmers. Every athlete gave their absolute best, and we’ve made fantastic progress as a club. It’s inspiring to see how far we’ve come, and we are already looking forward to achieving even greater success in the future.”

A huge congratulations to every single Otter who competed, gave their all in the pool, and made the club proud. The future is looking bright, and with this momentum, Dereham Otters are set for even bigger triumphs in the seasons to come!
