Dereham Otters Impress with 12-Medal Haul at Ipswich Open Meet

The Dereham Otters celebrated another memorable weekend of competition after a strong showing at the Ipswich Open Meet, where a team of 20 swimmers flew the flag for the club with determination, resilience and superb team spirit.

Across two days of racing, the Otters delivered an array of excellent performances, producing an outstanding 31 personal bests while tackling a varied programme of events with confidence. Their efforts reflected the dedication and commitment shown in training, with every member of the squad making a valuable contribution to the club's success.

One of the standout stories of the weekend came from sisters Amelie, Imogen and Niamh Parnell, who all competed in several events. Their hard work paid off as each claimed a breaststroke medal, showcasing their consistency and composure against strong competition. It was particularly rewarding to see the trio cheering each other on throughout the meet while producing impressive performances in the pool.

By the end of the competition, Dereham Otters had amassed an impressive total of 12 medals, including seven silver and five bronze.

Although the medal tally was a fitting reward for the team's efforts, the weekend was also about building experience and continuing to develop as competitive swimmers. Every athlete represented the club with pride, determination and excellent sportsmanship, making it another successful outing for Dereham Otters.

Head Coach, Sam Watts said: "We're delighted with how the team performed throughout the weekend. It was fantastic to see the squad produce 31 personal bests alongside a fantastic medal haul, while also seeing swimmers support one another throughout the competition. We're incredibly grateful to our coaches, volunteers and families for their continued encouragement, which plays such an important role in the club's success."
